Associate Dean's Message - May 6, 2019
Dear Sackler Community,
As Dan Jay mentioned in last week’s Goods, we have been very successful in recruiting a number of underrepresented students for the incoming class. In conjunction with our recruiting efforts, we are providing enhanced support and programming for the entire community. One such initiative is the Bridging Differences program sponsored by the Provost Office that strives to improve understanding and engagement across divergent perspectives at Tufts, through effective communication and programming and to foster an appreciation that lessons learned at Tufts can be applied to advance inclusiveness and impact in society.
Najla Fiaturi, a Sackler faculty member was awarded a Bridging Differences Seed Grant to start an initiative called Let's Talk: Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement. This will serve as a platform for cultural awareness, open discussion among attendees, and skill development, all of which are applicable to careers beyond Tufts University. The first event will be held on Monday, May 20 from 3 – 6 pm. Additional information including the full agenda and registration are available.I encourage students and faculty to attend and engage in our diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Dan Volchok, Associate Dean
