Dean's Message - September 9, 2019
Dear Sackler Community,
The new academic year has begun, and with it, an exciting new Dean’s Office Initiative. Here at Sackler, we strive to create a welcoming work environment centered on inclusive excellence, and a community where we are all supported to reach our career potential. To work toward this goal, and funded by an award from the Burroughs Welcome Fund, we have developed Cultural Awareness for Career Success (CACS), a first in the nation program of lectures, workshops and events. A critical element of CACS is the ability for students to earn a certificate of achievement to help them as they seek academic and industry jobs after graduation.
Our kickoff event for CACS is a Sackler-wide seminar by Lydia Villa-Komaroff, PhD, a national leader in the dialog on implicit bias. The event will be held on Wednesday, September 18 from 3-5PM in the De Blois Auditorium, MEB-09 (145 Harrison Avenue). This seminar is open to all Sackler students, faculty, and staff; I hope to see many of you there.
Dan Jay, Dean
