Dear Sackler Community,

We had our first cultural walk exploring the South End on Thursday, October 10. Eight students attended; we spent several hours learning about the history of the neighborhood, appreciating the Puerto Rican culture, and enjoying delicious food. The group also took the opportunity to learn from one another about our own cultures and experiences. All in all, the event was a valuable addition to our new Cultural Awareness for Career Success (CACS) program.

Our next scheduled event for this series is the second Cultural Walk, this one through Dudley Square, including a Nigerian dinner at Suya Joint. This walk is scheduled for November 21 from 6 to 8pm. Details and registration information can be found below. Other upcoming events include a talk on LGBTQ awareness; a panel on faith appreciation in the workplace; a workshop featuring diversity officers from industry and academia; and a Cultural Walk and banquet in Chinatown. These events will prepare students to thrive in and enrich a diverse workplace; those who attend 75% of CACS events will receive a Certificate of Achievement to show their commitment to diversity and cultural understanding. All members of the Sackler community are welcome to attend, as these events encourage us to appreciate the rich diversity present in our own workplace.
