Student wellness is of utmost importance. Learn about the resources available.

This week I’d like to focus on student wellness. The Student Wellness Advisory Committee (SWAC) is comprised of student representatives from each school on the Boston Health Science Campus and acts as a liaison to the Student Wellness Advisor, Snaggs Gendron. Throughout the year, SWAC hosts events to promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle. Some events have included Pop-Up Tea, Wellness Gathering, hiking, apple picking, and massages. Catherine Choi, a 3rd year Neuroscience PhD student, is the Sackler representative this year and is working on many Sackler specific events. Be on the lookout for these announcements through the year!

Additionally, we have a new student organization started by 3rd year Neuroscience PhD student Alyssa DiLeo called sREFS (Sackler Resources for Easing Stress & Friction), which is a peer resource for graduate students, by graduate students. sREFS – PhD students trained in conflict resolution, stress reduction, and mental health awareness ̶ are a low barrier, confidential resource that can help graduate students with conflict resolution, stress management, mental health, and reporting. Find out more about sREFS, how to become a sREFS, and how to contact an sREFS for help or guidance on their website. Meet the sREFS at their Fall Office Hours on October 10 from 4-6pm in Jaharis 156. Snacks and drinks will be provided!

As always, if you have any questions about wellness in general or issues you may be facing, feel free to contact me.
