Dear Sackler Community,

Last Thursday was the 75th anniversary of the D Day invasion of Normandy and just prior to this we celebrated Memorial Day. Last month, I had the privilege of walking on Omaha Beach with Dwight David Eisenhower Jr. historian and grandson of the supreme allied commander where our Tufts Travel and Learn group laid a wreath for the fallen at the American Cemetery there. It was a solemn and moving experience that reminded me of the sacrifice made so that we could pursue our work and live our lives with peace and prosperity. We have had veterans who have come to our school to pursue a career after their military service such as Henry Rogalin. I have found such individuals bring a focus and determination forged in their experience and mission. I make it a point to thank any veteran that I meet for his or her service that has permitted me to follow my path and hope that you might give gratitude to these men and women for your opportunities.

Dan Jay, Dean
