Associate Dean's Message - October 17, 2022

Be sure you are aware of resources related to student support services. We have new career development workshops and other programs.

Dear GSBS,

Last week I held meetings with staff across Tufts’ graduate schools regarding student support services. While each school is different, and students have different needs, I was encouraged to learn the support we provide is comparable to the other Tufts schools. I want to take this opportunity to remind students that the Dean’s Office staff is available to help you succeed in class and the lab. If you have concerns about disability accommodations, mental health, or counseling support or success as a student, do not hesitate to reach out to me. If I cannot aid you directly, I can connect you to a school or university resource.

One area we heard needed to be reviewed and revamped was our Career and Professional Development services. We have launched a revised program consisting of both periodic workshops and one-on-one sessions with a professional career coach. We have three upcoming workshops:

  • How to Evaluate, Build and Highlight Transferable and Career Relevant Skills
  • Wellness and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Professional and Career Development
  • Storytelling

Additional sessions will be scheduled in the Spring. If there is any topic you think should be explored, please reach out to Alex Israel at alexandra.israel@tufts.edu. Information about the individual career coaching meetings and the link to make an appointment (in-person in Boston or via Zoom) is available on the GSBS website.

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding our support services, feel free to contact me at daniel.volchok@tufts.edu.
