Research synopsis:

Tumor associated macrophages are associated with poor prognosis in many types of cancer. Specifically in glioblastoma these cells as well as the resident myeloid population in the brain, microglia, have shown a tumor supportive role within the tumor microenvironment. I am using a genetically engineered mouse model of glioblastoma to study the role of tumor associated macrophages and microglia in tumor progression and the effect of therapeutic intervention on these populations.
