Research synopsis:

I am studying high-risk human papillomaviruses (HR-HPV), which contribute to a variety of anogenital tract and oropharyngeal cancers. The pathogenesis of HR-HPV infection is attributed to the overexpression of two oncogenic proteins: E6 and E7, which are known to drive cancer progression at least in part by inducing EMT. Ikaros Zinc Finger 3 (IKZF3) has emerged as a potential candidate for promoting EMT and cancer progression. I am investigating the biological response of IKZF3 (Aiolos) expression to HPV oncoproteins E6 and E7 and whether IKZF3 expression may contribute to EMT through lymphocyte mimicry.
