Research synopsis:

I am currently studying how brain glial cells modulate Drosophila circadian behavior through glia-to-neuron communication. Using Translating Ribosome Affinity Purification (TRAP), I hope to determine the expression profile of glial astrocytes in order to search for candidate genes required for glia-to-neuron communication. I hope to identify key mediators and then understand how they affect circadian clock function and behavioral output. Ultimately, I plan to determine whether the identified Drosophila genes have corresponding functions in mammals using mouse genetic models.
