Research synopsis: 

The Vibrio cholerae quorum sensing system co-ordinates multiple cellular processes such as virulence, metabolism, biofilm formation, natural transformation and type six secretion. A deeper understanding of the key signalling steps involved in this process will help researchers develop new strategies in tackling the human health challenges posed by this global pathogen. I am using traditional genetics approaches to uncover genes involved in the quorum sensing system. I am also interested in looking at population bottlenecks that affect the viability of various quorum sensing mutants inside a host model system.
