Research synopsis: 

Much like humans learn language, songbirds require auditory feedback to learn and maintain their song. The feedback-driven vocal plasticity is critically dependent on a basal ganglia-thalamo-cortical circuit, known as the anterior forebrain pathway (AFP) in songbirds. My research interest lies in examining the role of LMAN (the lateral magnocellular nucleus of the anterior nidopallium), the output nucleus of the AFP, in mediating song plasticity by using behavioral and electrophysiological methods.Much like humans learn language, songbirds require auditory feedback to learn and maintain their song.
