Research synopsis:

We use genetic and molecular biological approaches to study the pathogenicity, transmission, and host response to Vibrio cholerae, the causative agent of cholera. We also study bacteriophages and predatory bacteria that killĀ V. cholerae. We are identifying and characterizing the genes of V. cholerae, bacteriophage, and predatory bacteria that play roles in these processes. The information obtained will positively impact the development of vaccines, antibiotics, and therapies designed to prevent or treat infections.
